Chadwick graduated from Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, in July 1864. He was ordained as minister of the Second Unitarian Church in Brooklyn, New York, that December. He was a frequent contributor to the Christian Examiner, The Radical, Old and New, and Harper’s Magazine, and published numerous poems in American periodicals.
