Son of the Dean of Rochester, Dale was a Scholar of Queen’s College, Oxford (BA & MusB 1866). Ordained a deacon in 1870, and priest in 1871, he was assistant master at Westminster School (1870-1886); Rector of Bletchington (1885-1899) and Hampton Poyle (1892-1897), and Perpetual Curate of Binsey (1905-1910).
