Born: Au­gust 29, 1872, Hil­ver­sum, Noord-Holl­and, Ne­ther­lands (birth name: Hen­dri­cus de Fluit­er).

Died: March 3, 1970, Azu­sa, Cal­i­forn­ia.

De Fluiter’s fam­i­ly em­i­grat­ed to Cleve­land, Ohio, in 1882. When Hen­ry grew up, he be­came an ap­pren­tice sign paint­er. His life changed, though, af­ter at­tend­ing a re­viv­al by Dwight Moo­dy and Ira San­key in Clev­eland, Ohio. In­spired by that ex­per­i­ence, he en­rolled at the Moo­dy Bi­ble In­sti­tute in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, and went on to a ca­reer in evan­gel­ism.
