Graham was a mem­ber of the Sal­va­tion Ar­my in Lin­dsay, On­tar­io, Ca­na­da. Her fiancé re­port­ed­ly died of tu­ber­cu­lo­sis, and she ne­ver re­cov­ered from that trau­ma.
