Educated at Wor­ces­ter Coll­ege, Ox­ford (BA 1889), Jones was or­dained in 1858. He held sev­er­al posts, in­clud­ing Rec­tor of Bats­ford, Glou­ces­ter­shire, be­fore serv­ing as Re­ctor of Col­by, Nor­wich Di­o­cese (1895-1902). His works in­clude:
