Died: May 9, 1838 in New­ton, Mass­a­chu­setts.

Educated at Co­lum­bi­an Coll­ege, Knowles be­came the se­cond pas­tor of the Se­cond Bap­tist Church, Bos­ton, Mass­a­chu­setts, in 1825, and pro­fess­or at the New­ton The­o­lo­gi­cal In­sti­tute in 1832.
