Born: May 14, 1931, Buck­hurst Hills, Ess­ex, Eng­land.

Leech grew up in Hud­ders­field, York­shire, but at age 18 his fam­i­ly re­turned to Es­sex, mov­ing to Frint­on-on-sea. He served in the Na­vy, then stu­died at the Lon­don Bi­ble Col­lege, Bar­ring­ton College and North Park Sem­in­a­ry, Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois. Or­dained a min­is­ter in the Evan­gel­i­cal Co­ve­nant Church (ECC), he pas­tored in Bos­ton, Mass­a­chu­setts; Mont­clair, New Jer­sey; San Fran­cis­co, Cal­i­for­nia; and at the Mon­te­ci­to Co­ve­nant Church, San­ta Bar­ba­ra, Cal­i­for­nia (1968-75). He al­so served on the ECC’s Hymn­al Com­mis­sion.
