Noble moved to Lon­don in 1881, then to Birk­dale, Lan­ca­shire, liv­ing there eight years be­fore re­turn­ing to Lon­don in 1892. He was a well known es­say­ist, and con­trib­ut­ed to the Spec­ta­tor, the Aca­de­my, and other lit­er­ary pa­pers. His works in­clude:
