Born: Jan­u­ary 4, 1865, Lon­don, Eng­land.

Son of H. J. Pope (one time pres­ident of the Wes­ley­an Con­fer­ence), Mar­tin was ed­u­cat­ed at Man­ches­ter Gram­mar School; Vic­tor­ia Un­i­ver­si­ty, Man­ches­ter; and St. John’s Coll­ege, Cam­bridge (BA 1887, MA 1896). He en­tered the Wes­ley­an min­is­try in 1888, and as of 1906 was sta­tioned in Ox­ford. His works in­clude:
