Born: July 15, 1820, Cambuslang, Strathdyde, Scotland.
Died: June 9, 1864, Monzievaird, Perthshire, Scotland.
First son of Rev. John Robertson, D.D., William was educated at the University of Glasgow (MA). In 1843 he became parish minister at Monzievaird. He served on the Hymnal Committee of the Established Church in 1852, 1853 and 1857, and contributed two hymns to their Hymns for Public Worship in 1862.
