Born: Cir­ca 1520 or 1535, prob­ab­ly in Strass­burg, Ger­ma­ny.

Died: Cir­ca 1593.

In 1562, Schmid suc­ceed­ed Franz Durst as or­gan­ist at the ca­thed­ral in Strass­burg, and served three de­cades there. In 1592, he ac­cept­ed a po­si­tion at Jung Sankt Peter Kirche, but died shortly there­af­ter. His works in­clude:

• Zwey Bücher ein­er neu­en Künst­lich­en Tab­u­la­tur auff Or­gel und In­stru­ment (Strass­burg: 1577)
