Son of John Cross­ley Sey­mour, Vi­car of Ca­hi­rel­ly, di­o­cese of Ca­shel, Sey­mour spent much time in li­ter­a­ry pur­suits from an ear­ly age. He ed­it­ed a new edi­tion of Dr. Gil­lies’ Life of White­field, and wrote a “Me­moir,” which was pre­fixed to the Re­liques of An­cient Ir­ish Po­e­try, by Miss Char­lotte Brooke, 1816. Sey­mour lived for some time in Na­ples, Ita­ly (cir­ca 1839-1847), then at Bris­tol, Eng­land. His other works in­clude:
