Shekleton was for ma­ny years an in­val­id, dur­ing which time she wrote a num­ber hymns; sev­er­al ap­peared in Chos­en, Chast­ened, Crowned. Me­mor­i­als of Ma­ry She­kle­ton, Late Se­cre­ta­ry of the In­val­id’s Pray­er Un­ion, by Her Sis­ter, 1881.
