Educated at St. Olaf College and the United Norwegian Lutheran seminary, Solberg was ordained in 1900. He served at churches in Vermillion and Yankton, South Dakota; Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago, Illinois (1906-11); Bethlehem Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota (1911-18); Madison, South Dakota; and St. Paul’s, Minneapolis. From 1937 to 1945, he worked as an evangelist for the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
