After traveling as a young man, Swed­berg was or&shydained in 1683, and served as chap&shylain of the roy&shyal cav&shyal&shyry re&shygi&shyment in Stock&shyholm. He be&shycame friends with King Karl XI, and was ap&shypoint&shyed court preach&shyer, then in 1692 be­came a pro­fess­or of di­vin­i­ty in Upp­sala. In 1702, he be&shycame bi&shyshop of Ska&shyra, a post he held 33 years.
