Faulkner had 12 child­ren, five of whom died in in­fan­cy. She mar­ried John Thom­son (first li­brar­i­an of the Phil­a­del­phia Free Lib­ra­ry) in 1861. They em­i­grat­ed from Eng­land in 1881, ar­riv­ing in Phil­a­delphia on the ship Wars­land. She be­longed to the Church of the An­nun­ci­a­tion in Phil­a­del­phia.
