Trevelyan was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge (BA 1876, MA 1879). He was ordained an Anglican deacon in 1877, and priest in 1878. In 1881, records show him as the Curate of Calverton. He also served as Vice-Principal of Ely College (1881-4), and Vicar of St. Matthew’s, Westminster (1884).
