Turney grad­u­at­ed from Mad­i­son Un­i­ver­si­ty in New York, and was suc­cess­ive­ly pas­tor at Hart­ford and Gran­ville, Ohio (1842-7); Pro­fess­or of Bib­li­cal Cri­ti­cism, Mad­i­son Un­i­ver­si­ty (1850); and Pro­fess­or of Bib­li­cal Lit­er­a­ture at Fair­mount The­o­lo­gic­al Sem­in­a­ry, Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio (1853-58).
