Died: July 18, 1891.

A graduate of the University of Ed­in­burgh, Young was head mas­ter of Nid­drey Street School, Ed­in­burgh (1830-1840), then taught Eng­lish at Ma­dras Coll­ege, St. An­drews. He re­tired from St. An­drews in 1853 and lived in Ed­in­burgh, where he was for some time the su­per­in­tend­ent of the Green­side Par­ish Sab­bath School.
